Overview
Take blended learning to the next level with rubric guided reviews, optional learning activities, and completion certificates. Learners can be assigned or if the curriculum has been added to a folder, they can self-enroll. Comprehensive reporting on learner progress and feedback is also available.
Turning on Curriculums
The Curriculums add-on is not enabled by default within your organization, it will need to be turned on in order to use this functionality.
To do this, go to Admin > Settings > Add-ons and search for “Curriculums”. Select the Curriculums add-on to view the detail view, and select ‘Add to Loop’.
Once enabled, you will see the Curriculums tab in the left navigation menu.
Requirements
Build out your curriculum with content and external tasks which can be gated and organized with sections.
- Content items - videos, pdfs, authored content, etc. which are selected from the app's content library
- External tasks - A task with no associated content
Configuring Requirements
Each requirement can be configured individually. Settings include making it optional, requiring an approval for completion, and overriding the title.
You can configure each requirement by hovering over the row, revealing the option.
Optional Requirements
You may have supplemental items that are not required to complete the overall curriculum. By updating the item's configuration to "make optional" you'll allow learners to skip it if they so choose.
Approvals
For requirements that need a review prior to being completed, you can enable "require approval for completion credit". If no rubric is added, the reviewer will be prompted to Approve or Reject the submission, and will have the option to provide written feedback in an open text field.
Rubrics
You can make giving feedback more efficient and more consistent, by creating rubrics to be used during the review process. Rubrics are built using the Authored Content framework, where you have the flexibility to customize a form to create the type of feedback you need.
When a rubric is associated to a requirement, a coach or admin will be required to review the learner's submission. If the rubric was built requiring a passing score, it will automatically aggregate the reviewer's responses and determine pass/fail. If no passing score is associated, the reviewer will manually determine pass/fail.
There are two types of rubrics to choose from when configuring requirement approvals. Both are built using the same interface, with the same form options available.
Single-use rubrics
These rubrics are associated to a single requirement, and cannot be found in the Rubrics library for later use. Generally, these rubrics have very specific details relating to that requirement, that won't apply to any others. They are created at the time you're configuring a requirement, after you've enabled the require approval toggle. If later you'd like to reuse that rubric, you can add it to the library from the requirement's configuration screen.
Convert a single-use rubric to a reusable rubric at any time
Reusable rubrics
This type of rubric can be associated to any number of requirements, and is stored in the rubric library for later use. These rubrics have more generic details that can be applied across multiple requirements without losing context.
Reusable rubrics can be managed from the Rubrics library.
Settings
Complete items in order
Turn this on to gate content, ensuring they are completed in order of first, second, third, etc.
Completion approval
If you wish to require a final approval by a content admin or coach, once all requirements are completed, you can turn on the “Completion approval" toggle.
Completion Certificate
You can award certificates to Learners that complete the curriculum. Certificates that are earned for completion of the curriculum are totally customizable to represent your brand and what the Learner is being recognized for.
Certificate design
When adding a completion certificate you’ll need to choose a design. You can select a default template or create your own.
If you choose to create your own, you will need to upload a .doc or .docx file with your design. To ensure the certificate is personalized to the Learner, use the formats below in your uploaded file.
- Title of Certificate: {certificateTitle}
- Person receiving Certificate: {name}
- Date: {date}
- To insert the company logo from Loop: {IMAGE companyLogo}
- Description {certificateDescription}
Note: The casing must match what's listed above, otherwise the upload will fail to process. For example, you must use {certificateTitle} instead of {CERTIFICATETITLE}
Here's an example you can download
Access
Learner & Coach access
This is how you control which Learners and Coaches can see the curriculum. If a Learner is in one of the groups added to the table, they will be able to discover this curriculum, and enroll themselves into it. If a Coach is in one of the groups added to the table, they will be able to see it and assign it to their learners.
Edit access
If a content admin is in one of the groups added to the table, they will be able to create, manage, and view reporting associated to that specific curriculum.
Folders
Curriculums can be placed in one to many folders for different audiences. With the correct view access, Learners will be able to discover and self-enroll from the Browse Content page.
Curriculum Learning records
On the detail view of a curriculum, you can view a record of all Learner progress towards the curriculum in the Learning records tab. This list will include those who have been assigned, as well as those who have Self-enrolled.
Assigned
Assigning requires selected Learners to complete your curriculum. You can optionally add a due date or message to be sent as part of the assignment. Once assigned, the curriculum will show up in the Learner's assignment list in addition to being notified about it.
Note: Learners do not need to have view access in order to view a curriculum via assignment.
Self-Enrolled
Learners who are not required to complete a curriculum, but choose to do so for their own self-development can do so by self-enrolling. A Learner can self-enroll into any curriculum they have view access to. If self-enrolled, the curriculum will show up in the Learner’s assignment list.
Note: You can view if a Learner is Self-enrolled or Assigned by clicking into their progress detail view from the Learning records tab on the curriculum.
Assigning a Curriculum
Manually assigning
With the necessary group access, content admins and coaches can assign a curriculum.
Content admin assign from the curriculum detail view
Coach assign from the Your Team page
Assigning via Workflows
With Workflows, you can configure a curriculum to be automatically assigned to current users, those that are joining in the future, or both. Setup includes selecting the curriculum to be assigned, the user groups that will receive the assignment, and when it is due.
Reporting
You can download the Curriculum requirement progress report when viewing a curriculum. This report will provide you with the status of the curriculum, the requirements within it, and any reviews associated with the requirements.
Advanced Options - Track progress over multiple completions
You can enable multiple completions if learners will be making incremental progress on a requirement. Instead of a single attempt resulting in completion, you can apply a required total that must be met as well as require a final sign off from a reviewer. An example of this would be requiring a learner to attend 5 in-person training sessions, where they would submit 5 separate times.
