Overview
The certifications feature allows you to award certificates to Learners that meet the necessary criteria. Criteria that needs to be met in order to earn a certification can include the full spectrum of learning, including telling or showing the learner what they need to know, having them complete an activity that demonstrates their knowledge, and coach or admin reviews to allow for on the spot feedback or to ensure they’re meeting objectives. Certificates that are earned for completion of the certification track are totally customizable to represent your brand and what the Learner is being recognized for.
Turning on Certifications
The Certifications add-on is not enabled by default within your organization, it will need to be turned on in order to use this functionality.
To do this, go to Admin > Settings > Add-ons and search for “Certifications”. Select the certifications add-on to view the detail view, and select ‘Add to Loop’.
Once enabled, you will see the Certifications tab in the left navigation menu.
Certification review
If you wish to approve certificates before they are awarded, you can turn on the “Require approval toggle”. This will require that an admin or coach approve each Learners work before they can receive a certificate. If it is not turned on, Learners will automatically receive the certificate once they complete all required criteria.
Criteria
The list of criteria added to a certification is what needs to be completed in order for a learner to earn a certificate. In other words, all criteria must be met by a Learner in order to be certified.
View access
The view access tab is how you control which Learners should or should not be able to enroll themselves into this certification. For example, if a Learner is in one of the groups added to the view access table, they will be able to discover this certification, and enroll themselves into it in order to become certified. This is referred to as a “Self-enrolled” learner.
Certification Learning records
On the detail view of a certification, you can view a record of all Learner progress towards this certification in the Learning records tab. This list will include those who have been assigned, as well as those who have Self-enrolled into the certification.
Assigned
Assigning a certification requires selected Learners to complete your certification. You can optionally add a due date or message to be sent as part of the assignment. Once assigned, the certification will show up in the Learners assignment list in addition to being notified about it.
Note: Learners do not need to have view access in order to view a certification via assignment.
Self-Enrolled
Learners who are not required to complete a certification, but choose to do so for their own self-development can do so by self-enrolling. A Learner can self-enroll into any certification they have view access to. If self-enrolled, the certification will show up in the Learner’s assignment list.
You can view if a Learner is Self-enrolled or Assigned by clicking into their progress detail view from the Learning records tab on the certification.
Reporting
You can download the Certification Criteria Progress Report when viewing a certification. This report will provide you with the status of the certification, the criteria within it, and any reviews associated with the criteria.
