Content Types
Uploaded files
The Upload file action converts an uploaded file into a Content type: audio, course, document, image, interactive, PDF, video, or a Resource Content type. You won't need to manually select the Content type. The system will automatically convert/categorize it based on the file extension of the upload. Note: For security purposes, files with extensions other than those shown here won't upload. Files within the "Resource" category will upload but can only be downloaded, not viewed, by users.
| Uploaded-file type | Content type |

| POTX, EPUB, OFT, IBOOKS, ICS, UNITY3D, STL | Resource |
Website
Website Content items consist of a single URL. The URL can include anything inside or outside of Loop. Metadata is collected from the URL when the website Content item is saved. This allows users to preview the website within Loop when viewing the Content item before navigating to the URL. If the URL is a video, users can view the embedded video within the content viewer.
Lesson
A Lesson is a list of Content items. Lessons serve as a way to organize a list of Content and assign it all at once. A Lesson may contain any kind of Content item other than another Lesson or a Learning Path. Additional options include gating and sections. The order in which the Content appears in the Lesson may be adjusted during Lesson creation or editing.
Learning Path
Learning Paths are collections of Lessons and are suitable for larger curriculums. You can add one or more Lessons and choose to gate them. They can be arranged in any order as well.
Authored Content
For authored Content, you can create customized Content using text blocks, input blocks, inserted media, and questions. You can reorder and edit each item until you have exactly what you need. Questions can also be scored and feed into a pass/fail threshold.
Scenario
Scenarios focus on recorded or uploaded Learner responses. Learners can review Content items and instructions attached to the scenario, and leave a video response.
Creating Content
Do the following to create Content:
- Select the Content tab from the list of tabs, on the right side of the page.
-
Select the create icon
within the Content table.

Tabs
The following is a list of tabs that can appear in both the detail and edit views of a Content item. Most but not all of these tabs are universal between Content types. Some tabs contain subsections that appear only in the edit view of the Content item. Within each tab or subsection are fields that describe the characteristics of a given Content item.

Admin Content actions
Creating Content
Content creation begins by navigating to the Folders & Content admin tab and selecting a creation option from the dropdown. After selection, a creation screen will appear with all of the necessary fields. See Folders (Admin) for folder creation.
Viewing Content
Selecting a content item from the tables in the Folders & Content tab will navigate you to its detail. This allows you to view admin related details about the Content item. Language variants and edit access can still be adjusted in this view without editing the Content.
Editing Content
Content can be edited by selecting the edit button from either a row in the content table or the detail view of a Content item.
In the edit form, you have the ability to change all field values that were present during the creation of the Content item. You also have the ability to preview your changes before you save them. See the "Content preview" for more information.
Deleting Content
Content can be deleted either from the Content table or from within the detail view of the Content item, after selecting the item from the Content table. Deleting Content will remove it from all associated items that contained it, including Learning Paths, Lessons, Announcements, Featured Content, Collections, and folders. Content Registration
When a Content item is uploaded, the system attempts to register the file with a document management service. If this registration fails for some reason, the file associated with the Content object won't load in the Content viewer.
Content that fails to process will display a Failed to process tag in the Admin Content table. A warning banner will also appear from within the Content detail. You can sort filter the Admin table by Process status to see all Content that's failed to process.
Troubleshooting
Here are a few reasons why registration failures occur:
- SCORM engine goes into read-only state.
- The file being uploaded is corrupt or isn't configured correctly, such as an invalid ZIP file.
- A PowerPoint that can't be converted correctly due to a contained video.
- The file extension or type doesn't match what the file type actually is.
- A random failure in the process service occurred, such as botched detection.
Resolution methods:
- Try re-uploading the file to see if processing gets corrected.
- If failure persists, verify file configuration if you're able to, and try to open the file using a third-party application to see if it opens as expected.
- Contact Maestro support for assistance if the failure persists.
